Improving Student's Vocabulary Mastery By Using Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) Technique on The Right Grade Students on Madrasah Swasta Muhammadiyah-15 Medan

The objective of this research was to find out the factual evidence in the improvement of students 'vocabulary mastery by using Students Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique on the Eight grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Muhammadiyah-15 Medan which consisted of 30 students. In this study, the researcher applied the Classroom Action research (CAR) which implemented two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflectin. There were qualitative and quantitative data in this research. Qualitative data were collected through observation, meanwhile quantitative data were collected through the result of written test (pre-test and post-test). In the qualitative data, the researcher noticed that the students started to understand vocabulary mastery especially noun. It could be seen from how they struggle to find out the correct answers of elated questions. In the quantitative data, the researcher obtained the improvement of pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2 score. In the pre-test, the total score was 1.599 and the average score was 53,3. Then, post-test 1 was found that the total score was 2.130 and the average score was 71. Meanwhile, the total score of post-test 2 was 2425 and the average score was 80,83. The interpretation of each cycle had been improved. It could be seen that the interpretation of the cycle 1 revealed that there were 66,66 % students who passed the test and 90 % students who passed in the cycle 2 which were beyond the target of success. The target of success was 70 %. Therefore, it could be stated that the use of the Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) technique could improve the students' vocabulary mastery.
