Improving Students’ Writing Ability By Using Complete Sentence Method At Tenth Grade Of Budi Agung Medan
The purpose of this study was to enhance the writing comprehension of 10th-grade students at
SMK Budi Agung Medan through the use of the complete sentence method. Employing a
Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, the research was carried out in two cycles, each
consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data
collection methods included observation sheets, interviews, documentation, field notes, and
writing assessments. Both qualitative and quantitative techniques were used to analyze the
improvement in students’ writing comprehension. The findings revealed a notable
improvement following the application of the complete sentence method. Students' average
scores rose from 61.5 in the pre-test to 71.5 in the first cycle, and then to 82.66 in the second
cycle. The results indicated that the complete sentence method was effective in enhancing
students' understanding of descriptive texts—helping them generate more compelling ideas,
choose suitable vocabulary, and construct grammatically correct sentences. Consequently, the
learning process became more effective and meaningful. Based on these outcomes, the study
suggests that the complete sentence method should be more widely applied in writing
instruction to further support students' comprehension development.
