Improving Students’ Listening Comprehension By Using An English Song At Eleventh Grade Of SMKS Budi Agung
This study aimed to implement strategies to improve students' listening
comprehension in eleventh-grade students at SMKS Budi Agung Medan. This study
employed classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each
consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were
collected through observation, interviews, documentation, field notes, and listening
tests. The analysis employed both quantitative and qualitative approaches to
measure improvements in students' listening comprehension. The results showed
that the strategies students used to listen to English song significantly improved
their listening comprehension. In the subsequent cycle, the average score increased
from 56.47 on the pre-test. This study found that English song enabled students to
organize information systematically, which helped them improve their listening
comprehension. Based on these findings, this study recommended that students
listen to more English song during listening lessons to further improve their
comprehension.
