The Effect Of Using Webtoon Apps On Students' Vocabulary Mastery

The purpose of this study is to identify whether there is a significant effect of using

Webtoon Apps on students' vocabulary mastery. This study was conducted through a quasi-
experimental research design. The subjects of this study were observed and analyzed from

two classes of tenth grade students at SMK Swasta PAB 2 Helvetia, class MP 1 consisting
of 20 students as the experimental class, and class RPL 2 consisting of 20 students as the
control class. The research method applied was quantitative with a non-equivalent control
group design, and the sample was selected using purposive sampling technique. The
experimental class was taught using Webtoon Application while the control class was
taught through conventional methods such as using printed English books and dictionaries.
In the data processing process, it was found that the average gain score of the experimental
class was higher than that of the control class. The average post-test score in the
experimental class was 76.60, while the control class obtained 59.20. Furthermore, the
result of the paired sample test showed that the significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, which
means that there is a significant effect of using Webtoon Application on students’
vocabulary mastery at the tenth grade of SMK Swasta PAB 2 Helvetia.
